SUBURBAN SPECIAL

PROJECTS

The selling point of this tract home in southwest Austin was that it backed up to a greenbelt, but the materials needed updating and the floorplan included several odd angles that created a choppy and disorienting feel.  So we removed several angled doorways, an angled corner pantry, and the awkward closet doors set on 45-degree angles in the master bath.  We converted the laundry room off the kitchen into a walk-in pantry, and relocated the laundry to a new room upstairs that we created by installing a new 9-foot ceiling over the two-story entry hall.  The remaining changes were straightforward and cosmetic.  Outside, we replaced the wood privacy fence with an open-wire fence that made the backyard feel larger and opened up a full view of the greenbelt, added a small deck and pergola, and plenty of new sod and plant material
